A causa de unos tuits racistas y misóginos del pasado, Hartley Sawyer fue despedido de la producción de la serie ‘The Flash’, donde interpretó a Ralph Dibny durante las últimas tres temporadas.

Las publicaciones del actor remontan desde el 2012 y resurgieron tras el apoyo que mostró ante la iniciativa Black Lives Matter.

“Lo único que me impide escribir cosas moderadamente racistas es que (el activista afroestadunidense) Al Sharpton no pararía de quejarse de mí”, escribió.

Otros mensajes, hacían referencia sobre atacar con violencia hacia las mujeres.

“Me violaría a mí mismo, como lo que pasa en las citas, para no tener que masturbarme”, exclamó.

Ante las publicaciones, los responsables de la productora anunciaron que Sawyer ya no participará en la séptima entrega de la serie de DC Comics:

“Hartley Sawyer no regresará a la séptima temporada de ‘The Flash’… “Ese tipo de comentarios son anti éticos y van en contra de nuestros valores y políticas”.

Posteriormente, Hartley ofreció una disculpa a través de su cuenta en Instagram.

“Estoy avergonzado de haber sido capaz de hacer esos horribles intentos de llamar la atención. Lo lamento profundamente. Ese comportamiento no es aceptable”, concluyó.

My words, irrelevant of being meant with an intent of humor, were hurtful, and unacceptable. I am ashamed I was capable of these really horrible attempts to get attention at that time. I regret them deeply. This was not acceptable behavior. These were words I threw out at the time with no thought or recognition of the harm my words could do, and now have done today. I am incredibly sorry, ashamed and disappointed in myself for my ignorance back then. I want to be very clear: this is not reflective of what I think or who I am now. Years ago, thanks to friends and experiences who helped me to open my eyes, I began my journey into becoming a more responsible adult – in terms of what I say, what I do, and beyond. I’ve largely kept that journey private, and this is another way that I have let so many down. I still have more work to do. But how I define myself now does not take away the impact of my words, or my responsibility for them. I am very sorry.
